F1 live timing mobile9/18/2023 It is possible to switch between the different screens very easily from the side menu. One interval chart is available on the main timing screen, while a new data screen lets you add as many interval charts and lap time tables as you like, and the track visualiser is also on its own screen. Still, I hope to improve this significantly in the future (e.g., fixing duplicate timing data and errors, adding full lap times, colour coding, etc.) if people want to look at previous lap times. At the moment, this is very basic and has a few problems. The final new element is the "lap time table", which is an option to show a table of previous sector times for individual drivers. In the current beta version, cars jump around a bit when interval data is lost (due to pitting etc.), but I think the visualisation is too good not to release this time around.Įxample track visualiser with pit window for Verstappen shown. This is great for working out when leaders are approaching backmarkers, and there is also the option to display a cars pit window to estimate where the car will come out compared to the others. This is calculated using the leader's last lap time and the current intervals between cars. The second visualisation is the "track visualiser", which tries to estimate each driver's position on the track (during race and sprint sessions only). I hope to improve this in the future by adding more plotting options (e.g., averaging the rate of change over a longer period, laps to catch calculations, and possibly plot the gap to multiple cars).Įxample interval chart between Hamilton and Perez shown on the right hand side You can also toggle on the interval gradient to get an idea of the rate of change per minute. This is great for seeing if cars are getting closer or further away over time. The first visualisation is an "interval chart" that plots a graph of the interval between any two cars. The new visualisations still need further polishing, but after a few testing races, they are stable enough to be released. Over the last month, I have been working on some much-improved visualisations, which I am excited to finally release in time for the Brazilian GP. The extension also provided what I think is an improved UI and some basic visualisations. Since the beginning of the 2020 season, I have maintained a chrome extension that delays the official live timing feed on the Formula 1 website to make it useable when watching a TV feed that is delayed by a few seconds or minutes (e.g., Sky Sports Player).
